気だるい昼下がり。帰りの道ばた。オフィスの片隅。日常に、「攻撃」が許される世界を出現させる。良心が少しでも邪魔をしないように仕掛けをして禁じられた欲求を誘発する。20歳を過ぎて人を殴った記憶が無いけれど、2次元の中に一方的な思想を閉じ込める写真もある意味「攻撃」なのかも知れないと思った。殴る代わりにシャッターを切ってやる、と揚々とカメラを向けたが挑発に負け、まんまと撮らされた。

共食いはしないまでも、有史以来同じ動物種で血で血を洗うホモ・サピエンス。その旺盛な攻撃欲を、現代人は今、ゲームの中で発散しています。このパンチングマシーンは、バーチャルに慣れた私たちが生身のヒトと対峙してもなお、殴りたいという欲動が湧くかを実験します。脈々と受け継がれた攻撃の遺伝子が勝つか、倫理観が勝つか、無意識レベルの葛藤が火花を散らします。

I tried to click the shutter instead of throwing a punch with some confidence, but I defeated and just took the images.

Although human cannibalism is rarely practiced, Homo sapiens have been killing their own species throughout the history from the ancient times. In modern times, people release their compelling desire of attacking in video games. This punching machine examines if we are driven by the desire of attacking when confronted with an actual human being while being accustomed to virtual worlds. Will aggressive genes inherited from the ancestors win, or our sense of ethics surpass? The unconscious inner-conflict will spark.
