The bacteria here continued to grow
over the course of the shooting.
Through the viewfinder, we could
find that they were “alive”.
The bacteria we photographed are
nothing special,
just the familiar organisms around us
in everyday life.
We cannot see anything at first,
but in the course of cultivation,
they started to exhibit individual characteristics.
How do they look like to you?
Pretty? or hideous?
I felt the preciousness of life.

When we realized that these beautiful things are dirty, I thought that gap between
our preconceived notions and reality
generates brain drool.
At first glance, they look like whitish and
pretty feminine symbols.
However, a second look confirms that they
are disgusting bacteria.
It was very difficult for us to turn the creepy feeling when we saw the actually cultured bacteria into pretty and flat form,
since it is not something we usually do in our regular work.
